June 2025 update. Since 2018 I have bought 7 of these Minka fans for my 4,000 sq ft house in Florida. The most recent purchase was 2021. The fans work and look like new! No issues. I've never had an appliance that ran this well, much less 7 of them. I recommend them to anyone wanting a sleek looking well made fan.
As a bonus, our electric bill is about half of what our neighbors' bills are. We set our air con to 77 and with the fans running, it feels like 75. That 2 degrees makes a huge difference in electricity consumption and we're just as comfortable. At night we run the air con in our bedroom at 75 to feel like 73. The Minka booklet says on speed one the fan is using only 15 watts.
They take 30-40 minutes to install. The instructions are easy to follow with words and pictures. I installed all of them myself using simple tools and a 5 foot step ladder. The fan is designed to easily slide into the fan holding bracket, meaning that I only had to lift the fan weight itself for 5 seconds., which I did on my own. The fins attach after. The remote controls are easily set with a little switch so they don't interfere with each other unless you want them to (on our lanai we installed 2 fans of a different style, both running off one control).
The fan is flat white color with a short hang bar with a minimalistic look. Because our ceilings are flat white they blend in nicely. We don't notice them.
There are 3 speeds. On low speed they are practically impossible to hear but create a nice low breeze. No problem hearing TV when fan is on. On the other two speeds there's the noise of the air being pushed around, no motor noise. We don't go to speed 3 because they move so much air it blows things around.
The remote control is great. First, it can go to any speed immediately 1, 2, 3 or stop. Second, I can cut power at the wall switch, and then when I turn the wall switch back on the fan will resume whatever setting it was last at. I don't actually have to use the remotes that much.
The only problem over that entire 7 year period was a remote control that started acting up (going to speed 2 instead of off), so I replaced it.
