I purchased these sconces for a guest bathroom renovation. Here's what's important to know: the photo shows this sconce as having a black and silver backplate, but it's actually not black at all. Rather, the area that looks black in the picture is actually mirrored and that mirrored section is framed by a brushed silver. When I first unpacked them, I was taken aback. I had chosen these specifically for the combination of black and silver (I have chrome fixtures and a black mirror). However, because my renovation was already in progress, I decided to go with these anyway. It turns out that they are actually quite lovely and very elegant. The shades are exquisite. The lights themselves are not terribly bright, but because they are accent lighting, it's not that critical. The artsy shades create a distinct ambience and I think they're the best purchase of my whole project! I highly recommend them, as long as you're aware of the color issues.
