Product Description
The Modern Avalon House Number Collection will make your home stand-out with style. Since they can be mounted aware from the wall, they appear to float independently and cast shadows upon the surface to which they are affixed. The ethereal illusion is made complete by the absence of visible screws. Modern Avalon is a classic addition to your front door and works equally well on mid-century and ultra modern home styles. No Visible Screws Exposed.

Seems really nice, but if you need more than the #2, good luck

- Reviewed in the United States on October 20, 2015Color: Aged BronzeVerified PurchaseExcellently designed, high-quality house numbers tha can be installed flush against the wall or floating out about 3/4 in. on posts, which gives a sort of 3D effect. Installation was easy but does require drilling holes in surface of house. Better design is more distinctive than the numbers at most home stores.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2021Color: Brushed NickelVerified PurchaseUsing this on an indoor condo door. It looks good and seems well made. Mounting HW included, though we are using adhesive because we did not want the stand-off.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 13, 2024Color: Brushed NickelVerified PurchaseI was excited for these, but have to return them. Was willing to take on the challenge of no template and varied screw placements. Ordered 1, 2 & 6. The 2 by itself is as described so it got a third star. The 6 is 5” tall! And the 1 was 4-5/8” tall. Also, if you’re wondering why the “light is different” in the photo of the 6, it’s because it really does catch light differently and appear a different color. The polishing is not done vertically like it is on the 1 & 2. Bummed.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2021Color: Aged BronzeVerified PurchaseAll the reviews about how painful it is to install these are true. I'm handy around the house and it still took me forever and I wouldn't order them again simply because of the installation. Yes, there should be a template for where the holes go, but there isn't. Getting the holes lined up is difficult and the combination of the posts and anchors is needlessly complicated and if they're off just a little, it doesn't work. The numbers are nice, but I'm sure you can find things just as nice that are easy to install.
If you are going to try these, here are some tips. Lay them out on a piece of paper and use that to mark the top holes precisely. Transfer those marks to your wall using the paper. Make a slight hole right where you need it with a small nail. Don't go straight to a drill. I had to patch two holes because I thought I could drill the anchor hole right on the mark. Drill bits can move and that wrecks the accuracy. Nail first then I drilled with a very small bit, then a slightly larger bit, so I had a good hole exactly where I needed it for the final, larger hole. The anchors need a 1/4" bit. That's for the top holes.
For the bottom holes, I took a torpedo level (i.e., a very small level -- abut 6") and marked on the side of the level with a sharp pencil where the center of the top hole was and then where the center of the bottom hole was on the back of the numbers. **Each number will be different for bottom hole location.** I lined up the top mark with the center of the anchor in the top hole and when the level was level (i.e., straight up and down vertically) I then could mark the center of the bottom hole. Again, nail, small bits, large bit, anchor.
It finally worked, but what a pain. Because I had to patch two holes this took two days because I had to wait for the patch to dry and then paint before I could try again. Buy other numbers. Oh, yeah, we used them flush against the wall. The "3D effect" just makes crisp numbers harder to see because the "effect" comes form shadows, so you have the numbers doubled in your vision. Flush to the wall, they are very crisp and easy to see from across the street. If they weren't such a pain to install, I'd given them 5 stars. They're actually quite nice.
- Reviewed in the United States on September 24, 2016Color: Brushed NickelVerified PurchaseLove the modern look and the fact that you can make them appear to float using the included hardware. Quality pieces at a great price.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 22, 2014Color: Brushed NickelVerified PurchaseThese are really nice, large numbers that display well and, after adding a LED eave light, are very visible at night when the pizza guy is trying to find the house. Love the Moderne style and the brushed finish seems to hold up well. I tried mounting with the standoffs but the shadows those caused made the numbers harder to read, so I easily pulled the numbers back off and took the standoffs out. Very easy to mount in my stucco wall with the supplied hardware.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 20, 2016Color: Aged BronzeVerified PurchaseA nice, well designed product. Just one incredibly vexing problem...read on...
Each number comes with 2 sets of small metal rods--one for flush mounting and another for mounting in a raised manner to create a sort of 3D effect. I was halfway through mounting my 4-digit house numbers in the raised 3D fashion when I realized that I was missing a single long rod. I must have lost it or left it in the packaging thought I. So I went and looked and looked and looked. Then I counted all the pieces I had not yet used, and discovered that instead of 2 long rods and 2 short rods for each number, I had one extra short rod! In other words, there was a QC issue with the product that essentially prevents me from finishing it. At nearly $20 per digit, this is not acceptable.
