We're updating our kitchen lighting. Nothing is wrong with the fixtures themselves, so we decided replacement shades might be the way to go. I looked at the big box stores (Lowes, HD, Menards, At Home, etc), and I was disappointed in the quality of replacement shades there: The glass was thin, and a number of in-stock items were already broken. So, Amazon to the rescue ... I took a chance on purchasing one shade before replacing all of my shades. It's very nice quality for the price & looks like much more. Compared to the items in the big box stores, the glass is thicker and the shade is larger. A CFL will have no problem in this shade. It also arrived well packed. (See image.) Unfortunately, the item I received has obvious flaws, the most noticeable one is a dark spot. (See image.) This is even more noticeable when the shade is lit. The surface is not smooth on the front or back of the shade, so appears to be a flaw in manufacturing and not a first-quality item. Such a pity. If you like this item, my advice would be to purchase one first. If you replace your shades, my advice is to exam them closely for flaws. Frankly, I don't want to bother with the hassle, so we won't be installing these.

    We love these lighting cones. 2 of the 6 original globes on our hanging fixture were damaged when we moved the fixture.
    Searching for replacements for the 2 broken globes proved futile- we searched our limited local outlets and did a comprehensive internet search.
    finally, we found these globes on Amazon (good 'ol amazon) and ordered one to test it on our fixture. It looked great and we ordered a 5 more to complete the set.
    We love them. They have a warm, dark glow that is much more attractive than the original globes.

    I thought these would look good and I was right. They are glass and have a smooth elegance to them, though I think I saw some similar in some commercial coffee shops, they fit in great in my kitchen. They halogens I used lit them perfectly.

    The shade is beautiful. But careful when you are ordering multiples at a time. The shades are not the same color. Some are a bit darker or lighter than others. Amazon tried to compensate by sending out other lamps, but have not been able to figure out how to ship the same color. So if you don't mind different color hues for the same product, go for it. If you want them to match, pick a different lamp shade.
