1-Star for Amazon, but 5-star fan/motor.
Lately I’ve noticed a lot of people commenting that they’ve received “used” items from Amazon. This is one of them. I paid full price for a new fan/motor, not a used one. This is an expensive item. If Amazon is going to sell returned/used items, then they should state it in the description and discount the item so that the customer can knowingly make that decision!!
If you purchase this item from Amazon, check for signs that it has been previously installed and returned! When I ordered this expensive Fanimation fan/motor, I requested it to be delivered in an Amazon box to hide the contents. After opening the Amazon box, I noticed all the signs: When I opened the Amazon box, the fan box inside had a lot of scuffs and minor shipping damage but the outer Amazon box was clean and undamaged, indicating that the fan had gone through shipping previously without an outer Amazon box. Then, the fan box actually had TWO UPS labels on it showing that it had been shipped-to and returned-by customers in South Dakota and California before coming to me in Arizona. My UPS label was on the outside Amazon box. The fan box was obviously "re-taped". The wires were all (correctly) partially stripped by the manufacturer, except for some, which were completely stripped and frayed from being installed. The motor wires were unbound and bird-nested inside the box. The manufacturer didn’t package them that way.
I closed and retaped the box and returned it to Amazon and then purchased the fan directly from the Fanimation website and got their first-time buyer discount, so it was cheaper. I received it quickly and it was obviously brand new and had none of the conditions as I described above. Btw, it also took Amazon 16 days to refund my money!
This is an awesome, beautiful fan and worth the money in my opinion. I love that its DC powered, quiet, and Energy Star certified. I also purchased the wall mount control which is basically the same as the included hand-held remote, but is mounted within our existing switchbox and we used our existing Lutron Diva switch plate. So, the fan is controlled by the hand-held remote, or the wall-mount control, or the app on our phones. The Fanimation app works flawlessly after a few tweaks to our router settings, and we love that we can set on/off programs for it to work automatically. We also love the breeze mode.
I highly recommend the fan, but wouldn’t buy it from Amazon!
