This post lantern is made of aluminum with glass panels. It is so nicely built that they even have rubber grommeting on the edges of the glass panels where they engage with the top of the frame; this protects the edges of the glass and gives a little better sealing against water getting in.
We compared against post lanterns at a local big box store and this lantern was simply better in our opinion.
The one challenge with installation is removing the foam packaging that is placed inside the lantern for shipping. That packing foam is in place very snug. Other than that it installs like any other post lantern - and you will want a stepladder to have the lantern rest on while connecting the wiring (or an assistant who could hold the lantern up while someone else is connecting the wires).
