I'm not good at assembling furniture, and at first had trouble getting the stretchers to cross properly. I thought the stretchers were defective, so I e-mailed the store and they sent new ones right away. I did get them to fit together finally after playing around with them. Otherwise it was easy to assemble. Just do not tighten anything until all pieces are in place. The table is relatively small which is what I wanted because I did not want to cover the Persian rug. I generally buy very high end furniture that NEVER requires assembly and I was worried that the table would look cheap. I must say that it stands up very well to my Stickley furniture and the antique furniture I have. I love the color of the table. It is a rich mahogany color (called Plantation Cherry) with a beautiful glow. Really nice looking. And a very good price.
