Poor Quality and Word Salad Return Policy

Poor Quality and Word Salad Return Policy
The desk looks decent on the outside, but not $900+ decent. The drawers are extremely difficult to open and close because the glide in the middle of each drawer is made of the same cheap thin dry wood as the drawer so it isn’t smooth. The desk is very heavy and the weight is all in the front so while you struggle with the drawer shuffling it side to side the desk leans (falls) forward. You will definitely have to use the anti-tip kit so even opening empty drawers doesn’t bring the whole thing down on you. The inside “workspace” is also made of the same cheap dry wood and either stained and unfinished or not stained with sloppy stains all over and unfinished. The front of the cubby unit has veneer strips, the two inside “drawers” are basically boxes that happen to fit inside the shelf space, none of it really matches and for whatever reason they chose to install it a small space away from the side and top (which could have been additional support if they would have took a few minutes to think about it). I honestly wondered if setting my laptop on the drop down shelf would be enough to tip the desk forward and I don’t think it did, but I can’t remember because I was shocked by the hinges giving out. If you’re looking for a somewhat expensive un-functional space filler for a corner or something this is perfect, but if your looking for something that you can sit down and just write on a piece of paper you need to keep looking. ALSO: Take note of the “Eligible for Refund Return or Replacement within 30 days” because it becomes a word salad when you want to actually return it for a full refund. They will offer you a discount to keep it “as-is” and/or replacement parts to repair the damage and if you decline that offer you now have a damaged item that they sent to you and could have been undamaged, but you chose not too, so now you’re returning an item that you just don’t want. “Authorized Returns” within 30 days require the buyer to pack the item in the original packaging, pay for shipping and when you’re dropping it off at the post office (or you’re choice of carrier) you need to make sure the RMA is on the box and mailing label AND pay for a tracking number (you’re required to give them after you drop it off) and a delivery signature required return postcard. WAIT! THERE’S MORE! They will waive the restocking fee, but you may or may not receive a full-refund because if there is any additional damage you didn’t provide photos of and/or there’s additional damage during shipping you will receive a partial refund of unknown until the item has been inspected. LUCKILY (not in a good way) I experienced this before (not with this company, but it started that way) so I knew enough to check the seller’s website and their return policy before buying and took a screenshot because that’s what resolved this situation. LAST THING: If you ever get into that kind of situation contact the BBB and Amazon. Keep a journal with the date time and name for every conversation you have with everyone and screenshots everything and then fight - it’s exhausting, but some people can’t afford to give up thousands of dollars to some crappy company whose business practice is to ship crap to customers and then make up return policies as they go. That’s all… :)
