We bought three, all of which arrived in good condition, packed safely in Styrofoam. The fabric shades are more pure white than appears in the Amazon photo -- probably because that photo was taken with an illuminated bulb installed. They have a modern look.
They can be a bit frustrating to install for anyone with large hands. I found it easiest to remove the shade from the backing plate (4 screws), install the backing plate (the "matte brass" part) on the wall, and then re-attach the shade.
