I previously had 65" fans from Minka Aire, which as outdoor fans, are horrible. They are quite expensive, and rusted out in about three years, even though wet rated, and the warranty was useless. I decided to try this fan instead as I figured with the lower price point, and mostly plastic construction, perhaps it would either hold up better, or I would not feel so bad replacing it.
I'm giving it a middle of the road three stars because it isn't the most attractive unit, and the install is quite time consuming. I'm not sure why, but the plastic motor housing has indentations designed to make it look like an old 1980's ceiling fan where the screened vent holes used to surround the center shaft area. It just looks weird putting pretend versions of those back on. I'd have preferred a nicer looking model, but went more for utility than looks, as this one seems to be well regarded for outdoor use and I don't want to be replacing fans every three years.
The blades are attached by putting screws through a small hole in the top side of the light housing (same whether you have a light model or not) as you rotate them around. It's a better overall look than having the screws exposed, but it takes quite a while and you'll drop a few screws, so make sure you're installing in an area where you'll be able to find them as they go bouncing, or put a tarp down.
I have ten foot ceilings and installed two of these with the included 6" drop tubes on a patio about 40' x 10'. On high they move a reasonable amount of air directly down, but very little outside the direct path. I'm not sure if that's just life with a 52" diameter fan, or if the Minka Aire blades were shaped differently to push more outward. I'm going to take them back down to use in other places and try the 60" version of the fan instead.

Installation Instructions Are Worthless
Full disclosure, we did not buy this from Amazon, but we did buy one. Too early to speak to the durability and function of the product but I CAN tell you this - the assembly instructions SUCK. It took two fairly handy guys to figure out how to successfully install this thing and it took a far larger array of tools to get it done. For starters - the water proof "ball moisture cap" had to be drilled to get household wire through it. The "safey cable" was a mile long and poorly explained in terms of attachment and concealment. But by far, the biggest problem was getting the blade arm mounted. The Fan shipped with little pucks that were presumably installed to keep the motor assembly centered while in transport. The instructions for what to do with those was woefully addressed as was the fact that there was a port in the top of the switch housing that needed to be accessed to have any hope of installing the blade arms. So like I said, it might be a great fan and I hope it is, but you need to be very handy and very patient to work through the install. The instructions are of little to NO help. Perhaps we'll address the performance and life later.
