we replaced the brown glass that came with the fixture with white plexiglass to create a more Japanese look and we were very pleased with that change. You could also have a glass company cut glass in clear or other color too. The amber/brown would be fine for many applications, but it didn't fit the Japanese garden setting we have. The rest of the fixture is very nice and blends beautiful with Shoji style window panes in the area.
