How to Size a Chandelier or Pendant For Your Space

DIning Room Size Guide

Dining Room Table

We recommend leaving approximately 30"- 36" between the bottom of your fixture and the surface of your dining table. The width of your fixture should be at least 6" narrower than the width of your table.

Kitchen Size Guide - Pendant

Kitchen Table

Choose a fixture with a width measuring between 1/2 and 3/4 the diameter of around table. As with other surfaces, we recommend leaving approximately 30"- 36" between the bottom of your fixture and the top of your table.

Kitchen Island Suize Guide - Linear

Kitchen Island (Linear)

The key to sizing a linear light fixture is proportion. We recommend selecting a light measuring no more than 2/3 the length of the table or kitchen island. Consider hanging a pair of fixtures for extra long surfaces.

Kitchen Size Guide - Pendants

Kitchen Island (Pendants)

We recommend installing ceiling fixtures 30"-36" from the surface of your kitchen island. When installing multiple fixtures, the widest part of the fixtures should be spaced a minimum of 30" apart for optimal airflow, light spread, and visibility.

How to Size a Vanity Light or Outdoor Wall Light For Your Space

Vanity Light Size Guide Next to Mirror

Vanity Lights Next To Mirror

To evenly illuminate a bathroom mirror from either side, we recommend mounting your sconce(s) just above eye level, or about 60"- 65" from the floor to the center height of the sconce backplate.

Vanity Light Size Guide Above Mirror

Vanity Lights Above Mirror

The ideal linear bath light will measure at least 3/4 the width of the mirror but not extend over its edges. For larger mirrors, consider mounting a pair of evenly spaced linear sconces.

Single Outdoor Wall Lantern

Single Lantern on One Side of Front Door

Position the light fixture on the same side as the doorknob to see your visitors’ faces when opening the door at night. Mount the center of the fixture at eye level, or 60"- 65" from the ground.

Pair of Outdoor Wall Lanterns

Pair of Lanterns on Either Side of Door

When mounting exterior wall lights beside a door, position the fixtures at eye level, or 60"- 65" from the ground. For the best spread of light, the fixture should measure at least 1/4 the height of the door.

Much easier to install if you follow these tips.
5 out of 5 stars
Much easier to install if you follow these tips.
Easy to install once you figure out the stacking order of the parts that thread onto the coupling. Order i used was end cap placed to the coupling, then the threaded rod screwed into the coupling with a dab of blue locktite and snugged up with a pliers, then the hollow barrel, followed by the other end cap, large steel washer, large white rubber washer. ……….. now the secret to the easy install. The globe hole is larger than the threaded rod. Large enough to slip an o ring over the rod to hold all the above pieces on the rod in order . By doing so you can then mount the fixture without having to fumble around putting all the above pieces in place while installing the glass globe and all the pieces below the globe at the same time. ……once the wiring was connected and the base bolted to the ceiling it is alot easier to install the glass globe on the stem tight to the big white rubber washer held on the stem by the o ring, then the little white rubber washer, the little steel washer, the hex jam nut, the decorative bottom cap , and finally the bottom threaded ball. Much easier to use the oring to hold the parts above the globe on the stem , mount the fixture to the ceiling , and then mount the globe and parts below the globe to complete the install. I did not have an oring so i used clear plastic tubing from the hardware store and cut a 1/8” width off the end. The i.d. Was 1/4” . Whatever you use to hold the top pieces in place as described in the order above when your done test the globe fit so the globe center hole slides over the oring or in my case the small band of clear 1/4” i.d. Plastic hose. I stretched the hose a bit by putting it over the end of a needle nose pliers and opening the jaws up . Made it alot easier to slide over and down the threaded rod to the large rubber washer. The last tip is to measure the two bolts that hold the lamp base to the ceiling and get the bolts mounted and tightened before you even mount the base plate to the ceiling electric box. We used 75 watt equivalent bulbs , 13 watts each, 2700 kelvin , 1100 lumin G.E. Bulbs from Lowe’s and also put the lights on a dimmer. Bulbs were plenty bright and in our case 100 watt bulbs would have been too much. If you follow the above assembly ….. it will also be a whole lot easier to remove the globe for cleaning or replacing bulbs . Everything from the big white rubber washer to the ceiling will stay in place by the oring or small slice of clear plastic tubing, making the globe much easier to remove and put back up. The last two pictures are of the flush mount fixture( oring or tubing works on flush or semi flush threaded rod center assembly) with the bulb bases if you look closely you can see the clear piece of tubing on the center threaded rod next to the rubber washer that is just above where the white glass globe will be when light is completely assembled. An o ring of the right size would work just as well .

We just renovated our kitchen and needed a new center of the room light fixture. My husband wanted some thing that would give off a lot of light and I wanted something that would look great. This fixture meets both our desires. It looks wonderful and the room is nice and bright. Happy day, both needs met!

I've had this fixture for four years and while it looks nice, don't try to clean the inside of the shade with a wet cloth, the paint will peal off. The worst part about the entire experience is the lack of support from Quoizel. They told me I could buy another shade, but they were back-ordered. (Yeah, back-ordered because other customers are probably having the same issues). I'm sorry, but I will not put good money toward a bad product. I will replace this fixture with another brand's fixture before I spend money replacing this Quoizel shade.

I have had this fixture installed for almost 3 years now. Removed the globe to clean the dust out. Using plain water and a paper towel, the frost coating on the inside is starting to peel. I expected better quality for the price I paid.

The light it's self is very pretty. The base part of the light goes up no problems. It's getting the glass globe on that's a pain!
I decided to use a little double sided tape to hold the check ring and spacer together, left a little bit of tape over the hole. So when I pushed it up on to the center stem it stayed there on it's own. Next I put a Pipe cleaner in the hole of the center stem, that way I could easily get the glass globe on the center stem even though I couldn't see the stem. Once on, I pulled the pipe cleaner out. Put the washers, and hex nut into place. Then cap, and final goes on easily. A locking washer would have been a great help, they really should put one in. I've decided when it's time to change the light bulbs I'm doing it over the top bar, not taking off that globe.

Gorgeous fixture - very substantial looking. Nice transitional appearance that works with more modern and traditional furnishings. A little bit complicated to put together the first time (and can see where it would be a bit of a challenge when you have to change bulbs) but the looks make up for the small speed bumps. With 3 100 watt bulbs, this will fully light up a large bedroom. Puts out a lot of light. Good if it is the sole ceiling fixture.
