Update Nov. 2019: I moved and this fan moved with me. It’s still excellent as ever. In fact it got quieter once I installed it in my new home. Love it still, and it looks so good. Probably going to buy another one.
Original review: This fan is overall a great product. Bottom line up front: it’s a relatively quiet unit that moves a great amount of air (for a bedroom at least). It’s a handsome fan and I really like the way it looks and performs.
It’s well built for the most part and is sturdy. For the price I wish there were a little more “features” but this is the model’s premium finish, so you pay more. And on the finish: very nice. It’s not quite nickel but it’s not quite chrome. Very classy and modern look to it. The blade finish on the darker side of the blades does not match what Hunter Fan has displayed in their online computer generated images, but it looks nice. The lighter side is a very nice gray color. Air movement is great as mentioned earlier. It’s not a dead silent fan, but I like a little bit of a hum when I sleep at night. My house is older and has thin walls/ceilings, so noise carries more. It might not be as noisy for you. Either way it’s not a noisy fan. Typical fan hum as to be expected.
The light: Ok so I will say the light output is absolutely horrible. Hunter Fan painted the inside of the glass shade with white paint, and as a result a dim glow shines out. So... I stripped the paint out of the inside of the shade and the light output is much brighter. I’m sure this voids some sort of warranty for glass, but that’s something I’m willing to lose for better light output. The light pattern is more downward and direct but it nicely lights up my room. If you’re not comfortable stripping the white paint off the shade, I would keep the low light output in mind. I include pictures with the light on after I removed the white paint.
I just installed it today and will update as needed, but so far I give it 5 stars and highly recommend!
