Nice Fan - WORKS w/ Dual Wall Switches
The two fans on my covered pool patio were showing their age and needed replacement. My long house is wired w/ dual wall switches, one for the fan, the other for the light, at four different locations, each in a different room, for this pair of fans. A pair of modern Hunter fans were installed leading me to discover that even though these modern fans have both a black and a blue hot wire, the only way to control the fan and light is using the remote control, not the wiring, BIG mistake on Hunter's part. A phone call to Hunter Tech Support confirmed the ONLY option is to select a product having a pair of pull chain switches, one for the fan, one for the light. This fan was selected and a pair was installed. One thing I discovered was that even though the Amazon listing images show reversible blades, bleached white wood on one side, white on the opposite side, the upper blade surfaces all had decals stating: "THIS SIDE UP". The blades also are flat on the lower surface and curved on the upper, again only go one orientation, bleached white woodgrain visible, not solid white blades. One fan was installed no problem. The other shook LOTS when rotating. Hunter was contacted, they instructed me to remove the blades and run the fan to see if the vibration was eliminated. Those additional steps were followed and it confirmed no vibration, so they sent me a replacement set of blades. The replacement blades were installed and now zero vibration. The bad blades were weighed. The five measured masses are: 625g; 626g; 626g; 626g and 627g. I didn't measure the masses of the replacement blades. The fan style is more "Old School" than I would like, but it is the largest diameter offered by Hunter w/ pull chain switches that are required for proper functionality w/ my house's dual wall switches.
