While half-star increments can't be assigned, I'll write that I give this product 4.5 stars on a 5-star max scale.
What I especially like about the Hunter Aren ceiling fan (I bought the "Fresh White" version, model 51448) is its incredibly whisper quiet performance at low and medium speed (and it's still fairly quiet at max speed) and its clean, simple, attractive appearance that can meld into myriad home motifs and color schemes. I appreciated, too, interaction directly with Hunter when I had a bevy of different questions (conveyed and exchanged alternately via phone, online chat, and/or email) as well as a request to receive replacement blades when I saw that a few of the five blades that arrived had small blemishes (a spot here and there or a small scratch-like mark). The response was immediate and affirmatively handled, replacement blades sent me at no charge (under warranty). I note one oddity regarding the model's operation, though: its fan setting starts with the maximum speed rather than the lowest, so it goes from off, high, medium, and low. Also, with the pull chains being situated as they are, it can be a stretch to reach them depending how and where you have the unit installed. In my case, I needed to buy a beaded chain extension and chain connectors (#6, nickel plated steel seemingly the best match alongside the original chrome chains) to make them more reachable. That can be pursued through Hunter directly online, but the S&H made it much costlier than for me to buy otherwise at a local hardware store (granted, the precise sizing match in millimeters would only be satisfied by buying what Hunter offered, but the difference is barely discernible otherwise). And it was a mere pittance in my buying it from the latter (when/if they're carried and in stock, that is). Also, to render more readily visible non-contrasting white bulb and fan icon indicator symbols on the also white plastic pendants on the model's pull chains to make more distinct one pull chain from the other (the Aren has chains parallel to one another on opposing ends of the canopy), I also bought from a hardware store a tiny container of metallic silver paint. I applied its paint to those icons converting them to silverish icons. It turned out fine, looking even better that way, and closely approximating the chrome pull chains and the nickel plated steel extensions I added to those. [NOTE: Paint pens may or may not work on the hard plastic; my brief experimentation with them didn't bear out.]
I hired electricians to do the installation, and it was a snap for them (a two-man team, with one pretty much there as an observer and to hand over the relevant parts and hardware at staged intervals per the user manual instructions). They finished in under an hour. I suspect that for anyone remotely handy in this regard, it'd be almost a snap to assemble; the user manual is quite clear. Hunter smartly labels each materials packet a certain way (e.g., star, circle, triangle, square) and pairs the manual's written instructions and illustrations accordingly. That is, it references those bag labels to make it very easy to identify what bag of hardware and pieces therein apply to each written and illustrated step from the manual. The LED lighting is fairly good, though once those bulbs burn out, I may investigate varying brands that, while having the same wattage, may have relatively greater luminosity. The globe that covers the two LED bulbs is very easily removed and returned to place.
