The light is well made and the directions for installation clear. Like others who've reviewed this, it can be tricky to install. After reading the prior reviews by folks who were very unhappy with the installation method, I knew I would need to take careful steps. However, since the power outlet was not centered where I wanted the light, I had to create a way to do that, while also making installation easier and protective of my ceiling. So I put a flat 5/8 panel up first that was slightly larger than the light, and attached mounting hardware to that. I agree it was hard to get the light to slide onto its mounts, but I made it easier by bending the mounts just enough so they weren't so tight. Then installation went relatively easy.
