First let me say this was our first time changing an exterior light ever so we were beginners. The directions were pretty terrible. The picture was illegible and there were parts that were in the kit but never mentioned in the directions which made it confusing. Also, the screws to put the top piece on were too long. They eventually just stopped screwing in, couldn't go any further without stripping so there was a gap. The company is going to send us new hardware kits but if they send us the same screws it won't matter so we will just go to the store and buy the ones we need. Also, we had 3 of the same lights and the hardware included was inconsistent across all 3. They feel kinda cheap like the base could snap off from the wall plate very easily so consider them fragile but we didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars per light so overall it worked for what we needed and was still a major cosmetic upgrade from what we had before. Just wish the directions and quality control were better.

    For the price this is a great buy. I installed this electronic eye as well and it pushed the bulb up a bit so I had to use one of those squatty LED curly bulbs but it gives off great light and works very well ! There are beveled edges which make it look really pretty.

    These wall lanturn sconces worked out great for us. Looks nice on the house and were easy to install. We are very happy with our purchase and would recommend.

    I bought a pair of these in March but didn't open the boxes until November when I was ready to install. My mistake. I should have opened them then as I am past the window to make a return. Although there was no physical damage to the outer box or to the boxes the lamps came in, one of them was broken in two and had bounced around during shipment severely scratching the top of the lamp. The lamps are attractive, but are made of relatively cheap metal. So to have a matched set, I've had to order a third one. Not great, not bad, overall just okay.

    As many of you have found out, the new CFL bulbs which the government so brilliantly decided we must use now, don't last in the fixtures we've had for years or that are available in the stores today. And the bulb companies don't want to back up their claims unless you have a CFL rated lamp. And a CFL rating will only get you a replacement bulb once as the companies no these bulbs will not live up to the claims in the fixtures today. This lamp should do it, and their isn't anything else out there yet as suitable. The problem is heat, as with any bulb, old or new. This lamp has a lot of space around the bulb, as much as anything I could find in the price range. The only thing that would be better would be a design that allows the heat to escape from the top without letting rain in, and there isn't anything in this range. Leave it to this government to insist on a bulb without insisting on a fixture to put it in first.

    The lamp was so well packaged that I thought it was twice the size when it arrived, due to the packing. Don't let the "French Provincial" tag fool you, it works well with any décor. Everything you could possibly need comes with the lamp; bracket, wire nuts, ample wire and even a sealing washer for the finial. All you need are screwdrivers, sealant and a bulb. It's rated for 100W and I believe it will handle it although I am only using 75W. I say screwdrivers because your old box may require a flat blade; the lamp is all Phillips. There are instructions which I thought were a little confusing at first but the picture was most useful. Anyone who has done this before will find this a very easy installation, all of 15 minutes. A newbie may take up to 1/2 hour at the most but it is a simple job. If your CFL bulb fails in any lamp, call the bulb company for a free replacement. If the bulb fails in a CFL rated fixture within the time claimed on the package then they need to back up their claims or complain to the BBB and your Congressman. Most of these claims are valid only under laboratory conditions anyway so you'll probably be due a replacement. Keep a record of when you installed the bulb and how often it is on. Yes, turn the circuit breaker off!

    My primary issue with this is the way it's put together and it will always look crooked. I ended up returning the first one and getting a second one with the same exact issue. Instead of returning the second one took the entire light apart and put it back together very carefully. In a couple places I had to shim certain connections to ensure it would not cant to one side and look crooked. I do not recommend this product.

    The light itself is nice, exactly as described on the site and shown in pictures. It is a little smaller than the one it replaces. Other reviewers have said this, too. The top attaches by screwing on the "dongle", which is nice. The one it replaced had screws through the rim, which eventually rusted in place and snapped when removing. This is an improvement. I installed two.
    I also had to return two. My outlet box has screw holes for the mounting bracket at 10 and 4 o'clock, not at 12 and 6 (top and bottom). Because the "face plate" is taller than wide, cutting the mounting bracket would be required to get it to fit inside the light and have the light vertical. Regardless, the outlet box also sticks out about 1/4 inch from the wall. The face plate cavity is too shallow to accommodate that extra distance and the mounting bracket. There was no way to get the light to sit flush to wall, and the gap was way too big to caulk.
    Bottom line: Nice light but check installation location to make sure it will fit.
