    I read the reviews prior to installing this light, so I knew what I was getting into. It's a difficult install, takes standard bulbs, and is large. The only one of those three I will object to a bit is the size. It isn't as large as I was expecting after reading the reviews. If you measure ahead of time, you know what you're getting and it is a perfect size for the hall that I put it in.

    The install was....just as bad as I expected. It took me an inordinate amount of time to even screw off the glass globe as someone else mentioned - I almost gave up and returned it, that's how bad it was. The little bolts that poke through are adjustable but still kind of short to be able to get through the insulation. I used awl to poke through the insulation and separate it considerably and it was still a challenge. I installed a different light recently with longer bolts and a cutaways for the insulation and it made all the difference. Once the bolts are screwed in, it is easy to install bulbs and the glass globe, but I am already dreading unscrewing that globe when the bulbs go out. Now that it is up on the ceiling, I assume that it is fine until then.

    The look itself is high quality. I really like the matte black and the size of it and it produces excellent light, but this isn't something I would go out and buy for another room because I would dread installing it for a while before I did.

    Installing the light is a two person job. I'm a single female and thought I could handle installing it alone but you really need two sets of hands. It seems well made the only complaint is the way they made the glass globe attach. You have to line up grooves in the globe with tiny metal pieces and twist. I think that trying to do that when bulbs need changing on a ladder will be a pain in the rear. It wasn't easy unscrewing it out of the package laying flat on a table. I'm taking away a star due to that drawback. Since I haven't been able to install it yet I can't really talk about the quality of lighting. It seems relatively well made but totally not happy with the way the globe attaches. I didn't realize it until the return date had past so I'll make it work. Once installed I believe it will look really nice and I'll update photos.

    Pros:
    Bright
    Modern Looking
    Mostly easy to install

    Cons:
    There was a smudge on it but I was able to wipe it down and get rid of it.

    In general, this is a great light fixture. Not expensive and it does the job. I would recommend it to anyone that is looking to replace older fixtures with more modern ones like I did. I would buy it again.

    I'm not very handy when it comes to household repairs. For example, one time when I was replacing a door knob, I made a mistake that led to needing to repair my kitchen sink (long story). But I was optimistic that I could remove my existing bedroom ceiling light and pop this one in its place.

    No such luck. This requires a skill level I don't have, and I'm not willing to risk making a mistake. My advice is to take this on only if you have done ceiling light installations/replacements in the past. Alternatively, buy it and pay someone else for the installation.

    I will also note that the instructions for installing light bulbs were very confusing. It was not at all obvious how to access the sockets. In fact, I began to doubt whether it was even possible. I thought: perhaps there are LEDs installed that are not meant to be replaced. But no... there are bulb sockets. They are just hard to get at.

    Unfortuately, a nice looking ceiling light is marred by difficult installation (including bulbs). If you are up for the challenge, though, you might consider it.

    Ordered this light to install in a small guest room. It is partially my fault that I ordered this light in such a large size. I did not pay much attention that it was 16.75 inches, which trust me when I tell you that it is huge. It was large and bulky, which may be ok for some people. The outer edge of the silver rim came dented, which was unfortunate. I ended up not using this light, but due to other unforseen circumstances, I did not try to replace or return, so I cannot speak to the customer service end of this. The price point of $89 is way too expensive based on the product I received. I feel a better light could have been purchased at Lowes for half the cost.
