Used three of these over my kitchen island as part of an ongoing renovation. They add a modern industrial look while fitting into a 'farmhouse' style. The 9-inch ones were the right size for me, over a 9ft x 4ft island. I tried the 13 inch and thought they were too large. The shades are metal, white inside and out, and the poles are nickel with a low shine. The are a couple of different length poles in the box to mix and match to your height preference. Very good looking, they throw good light with 4 lumen bulbs and look like they will stand up to time.
