    The toilet seat is fine but the hinge that attaches to the toilet it horrible! I set it up and the screws fell off the same day. My mother who had a stroke a few years ago was sitting on it when it happened and fell on the floor. I couldn't get her up and had to call for help. It was horrible! My mother doesn't even want to go back on the toilet. I couldn't get to the store to purchase a new one so had to use it for a couple more days and each time I screwed it back in it fell apart as soon as someone sat on it. I can't return it because its used and that is just gross. Its one with the screw that you have to screw into the toilet hinge then put through the hole and screw it to the toilet. It was falling apart at the hinge.

    The metal hinge version of this seat comes with (qty 2) 5/16th threaded studs about 2" crazy-long with one end intending to be screwed into the hinge... the other end passing through the toilet SOP.
    The plastic nuts that are included have a flat mating surface, and there is no plastic sleeve for the bolt/rod... nothing to keep the metal rod from shifting in the larger holes in the toilet.
    I will check the hardware store hoping to find plastic nuts with a cone shaped surface that centers the bolt in the hole, or some plastic sleeves.
    I just want the metal bolts centered in the holes and NOT touching the porcelain.
    One might conclude the manufacturer has never actually installed a toilet seat.
    As to the seat itself:
    The bamboo is a light colored wood.
    It has a noticeably heavier and smoother urethane finish on the top sides than the undersides of seat and lid.
