I agree with both of the 1st two reviewer (I was in a hurry and did not read the reviews before purchasing), it looks great in the picture but when I got it out of the box I was quite disappointed in the poor quality of the hinge and that the seat is really made of resin board with a thin oak laminate on the top surface of the seat and cover. On the plus side the stained finish is nice and the color difference between the two materials is minimal, but every time I look at it I will know. I guess you get what you pay for since most solid wood seats are usually $75+. The hinge was so sloppy (the seat slides side-to-side a good ¼") that I ended up taking the hinge off my old cracked seat, polishing it up with some steel wool, and attached it to this one. If you can afford it, spend the money for something better.

    This is by far the worst toilet seat I have ever sat on. I would of given it no stars but cant do that and post this!! It looked nice but it sat crooked on the toilet and the connecting hinges came loose in about 1 month and so it slid when sat on. My husband tried to fix it 3 times with it happening again and it was only my kids using it. Very poor design and not worth any money at all really. We ditched it and went to home depot, spent a bit more and got one with no problems. I would AVOID this seat.

    The wood seems more like a composite than wood, light weight. Does not look bad when in place but not up to our standards. I do need to return it as it has been in place for two weeks in a bathroom that had moderate use...there are only two of us in the house now....and the bolt on the back fell off last night. Was not to tight but just broke and fell off, not possible to fix, so hoping I can return. This is the only item I have ordered through Amazon that I am totally disappointed in. Looks like I cannot return it, out of the return period deadline, which is a shame because it just broke on June 13th...missed cutoff by 2 days. Don't buy this product not worth the price, quality is bad.

    The seat is really good looking. Unfortunately it's hinges leave a lot to be desired. A few weeks after it was installed the screws on the hinge of the seat bottom came loose. This allowed for the hinge to separate and the seat to slide off to the side of the toilet. Once the screws were secured we thought the problem was solved. Not! The plastic tube that fits inside the hinge and allows the seat or lid to move up and down is too short. This allows the hinge to come apart during any movement of the seated person. Hence the seat slides off to the side scaring the s--t out of the person. I know this what the person originally sat down for, but they didn't need to be scared to complete the task.

It is heavy, well made, and the color works well with the antique oak pieces in the bathroom. Most importantly, I'm happy to report that the bolts that hold the seat to the toilet itself have remained tight.
