    I have no complaints about the quailty of this seat, it is perfect. I am a little confused on the color though. It is supposed to be dark brown but I'm really not sure about that. It looks black next to my brown floor, shower curtain and dark oak cabinet. If I look at it at a certain angle I can see a touch of brown. I don't understand why one review would state that the color was lighter than the photo showes. Maybe they were talking about the mahogany colored seat. It kind of made me wonder if I was send a black one, but that doesn't explain the brown tint when I look at it from an angle. The seat is more black than dark brown. Maybe I should have gotten the mahogany seat. I gave one star less only because of the color.
    UPDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've had this seat for just under a year now. It is used mostly by my husband who weighs about 250 pounds. This seat is still solid, the hinges remain tight and it is still shiny and looks new. The only problem I'm having is that the hinges have a very small amount of green corrosion. THIS IS TOTALLY MY FAULT. This normally happens when cleaning chemicals get on the metal. I haven't been careful enough when cleaning this seat. I am still pleased with this purchase. I would have never found this quality in any home improvement store.

    We bought this for our guest bathroom. It looks nice. It was easy to install. However, despite getting very infrequent use, it cracked. It is a structural crack in the wood at the back between the hinges. It is over halfway across. Thee seatis still holding for now, but I am afraid that it might pinch someone or give way now. We are watching for it to get worse.

    Edited to say that it is now broken completely and unusable.

    Bought this seat about 4 years ago. Love the look. Definitely was a nice finishing touch to our 1920's low tank commode. Then two months ago the seat fell off. Discovered one of the 4 screws holding the hinge to the seat was missing. Couldn't figure out how that could have fallen out without my noticing it but such it is, right. I pulled another screw out so I could run to the hardware store and match it, then I put that screw back into the whole that the first screw was missing from so the seat would stay on while I ran to the store, the second screw head then twisted off. Apparently, the original screw didn't fall out, it corroded off and the other screw that I pulled out was well on it's way there as well when I pulled it out. Now I'm debating, the front, downward surface of the seat is beginning to delaminate a little so a new seat will be necessary before long. Do I pull all 8 of these screws, drill out the two broken screws and replace them all with stainless like they should have been in the first place. Seems like a lot of work for a 4 year old toilet seat. Maybe $50 isn't enough to spend on a seat if you expect longevity or quality. We only have two adults living in this house so things shouldn't wear out this fast.

    If you purchase this seat I'd recommend taking it out of the box and replacing the 8 screws holding the seat and lid to the hinges with quality stainless steel screws. I'd also apply a water sealer to the seat regularly to protect it from splashes and you could have a nice seat for a while.

    When I wrote this review, the picture shown as advertised is incorrect. There are four colors and only one is shown. The picture shown is the color Mahogany. However, the description is Dark Brown. There is a huge difference in these colors. Also, the hinge in the seat I received is nothing like shown in the picture. This may not matter to most customers but it should match the picture. I would have accepted it either way. What I can not accept is the color. The color Dark Brown is more of a reddish/brown and does not come close to the color of my bathroom cabinets. My cabinets are Mahogany. I have contacted Amazon to let them know they are showing the wrong product.
