My initial order was scratched upon arrival due to Amazon's poor packaging protection, so I had to get a replacement. I was very pleased to see that Amazon payed attention to my comments, as the replacement was very well packed. The finish on this seat is absolutely gorgeous. Time will tell whether it's durable or not. I think it needs wiping more often because the high gloss finish does show marks, but a dry cloth seems to take care of the problem. The price was incredible. My last seat cost approximately $150, so this item at $45.04 is less than 1/3 of the cost. Well done Comfort Seats!

I would think twice before buying another, at least until they upgrade parts.

I haven't installed this yet, but out of the box this looks really nice. I do see a few blemishes on the wood. A few tiny dings in a few places that are under the glossy coat, but expecting perfection may be unrealistic.

The seat is so shiny I may have a hard time convincing someone its wood and not plastic. I did notice, as others have said, the color doesn't stand out under normal lighting. There is some dark red to it until I turn on the heat lamp on the ceiling, which has a slight redish hue. Then the colors come alive and jump out at you.

I'll update this after the seat is installed.

I needed a replacement for a wooden toilet seat that had lasted 20 years! So i was looking for quality not price, There were a few round seats available in Uk that fitted the bill in every respect but colour. So i was pleased when i found this seat on Amazon .com. Sadly nowhere did i find the measurements between the bolts that secure the seat to the pan. I decided that there would probably be enough adjustment to cater for my loo and so i bought one. It arrived surprisingly quickly and was well packaged. I then searched all over the packaging before opening in the hope of finding those vital measurements but nothing! My only option was to remove said packaging only to find that the bolts were not adjustable and were in fact 2 centimetres closer together than i needed them to be! This called for a degree of DIY! So to replace the paper thin brass coloured steel tube i bought a solid brass rod and cut it to the required length. Moved the hinges outwards to fit and filled the exposed holes! So finally i have a seat that fits! It looks ok but it is difficult to asses the quality of the wood as it is coated with a very thick laquer. Only time will tell!

Love the seat and cover. Problem is the plastic nuts that goes under on to the brass screw will not tighten fully. It just turns and turns. Seat wobbles when you sit on it because it wont screw tightly. I suggest you have brass nuts to put on the brass screws. I tried everything to get it to work. Nothing works. Screws turn and turn. Seat wobbles and hurts you when you try to clean yourself. Shame I have to return it. I went to local hardware store to buy a new seat.

I was hesitant to pay 40.00 for a toilet seat, seriously. But we worked hard to get our home, and we thought we deserved to get some quality products beyond your basic 12.99. This one fits the bill up front and center. It is constructed very well, and the minute you open in in the Amazon box, you know you have a quality product. It even had a plumbers seal of approval on it, which means these are probably used in more mid level, slightly high end designing for a home. It is easy to put on, smooth to the touch, but like anything, takes a little work to get it on nice and tight. Also it is very easy to clean, which is a plus. Getting something this pricey will also motivate you to give your toilet bowl a good scrubbing if you had not been motivated to do so before, as you do not want to put a seat this nice and something filthy.

A solid, high quality product, highly recommended!!
