What a difference. If I had known the plumber had put in such a piece of crap to begin with, I would have insisted he change it. I really don't know why anyone ever puts coated metal in the bath tub. I will never stand up to any chemicals that you clean with. This is such a beautiful improvement. All you need is a couple wrenches, screwdriver, and plumber's putty. I do agree with another reviewer that the black gasket that is included is not needed. It will make the drain sit too high, thereby making water sit in the crack and mold to form. Great purchase. Go with the stainless for 20 bucks more! UPDATED REVIEW ....Fast forward to February 2020.....the drain where the water tends to sit seems to be corroding. This leads me to believe that this is not stainless steel. I am very disappointed in this product. For all the effort it took to uninstall what I had and to install this new set.....NOT WORTH IT!!!

    Quality seems okay and I'm hoping that the stainless finish will be more durable than chrome in my hard-water area.

    The instructions say to use plumber's putty, which was confusing since the unit comes with a large black rubber washer. I called Jones Stephens to clarify. They said they are only a distributor, not the manufacturer, and I should hire a plumber. When I asked who the manufacturer is, they said only that most of their products come from China and that they cannot disclose who the vendor is. Distributors should know their products and their industry. A responsible distributor, if they are unable to answer a simple question about their product, would contact the vendor and get an answer.

    By the way, after a little Internet research, it looks like the rubber washer is intended to go on the bottom of the tub (may be optional) and the plumber's putty seals the top. If that's correct, I'd suggest updating the instructions accordingly.
