Cons: Took off two stars because it does not fit flush to ceiling. The mounting plate has a recessed ring, leaving the outermost part of the plate about 1/8” from the ceiling. I bought this to substitute for a short down rod because the fan was strobing the recessed ceiling lights. Mission accomplished, but the gap between the canopy and the ceiling is a disappointment. I have more strobing ceiling fans, but probably won’t buy this again unless my search for a true flush mount fails.

      I used this to mount my new Monte Carlo Discus 52-Inch 5-Blade Ceiling Fan. I was originally a little disappointed because the Discus wasn't available as a flush mount. This mount was suggested after I ordered the fan. There wasn't perfect directions but it seemed pretty clear how to mount it. The results are great!

We initially hung the fan alone, thinking we might send this back, but after hanging it, we decided we really wanted the three or four inches of ceiling space this flush mount kit offered. We rehung the fan and I couldn't be happier! It looks great and was easy to install.

      It looks good, it performs as it should. BUT beware installation with a wirelessly operated fan. The receiver unit for our fan BARELY fit inside the canopy with the wires, wire nuts, etc. After two hours struggling with getting the fan to fit on the screws (securing it to the canopy) while trying to stuff the electrical wires and receiver under the canopy, I finally bought some velcro and used it to stick the receiver unit to the outlet plate, thus getting it out of the way so the fan could be hung. Expect frustration during installation, but it does look good once done.
